Civic Centre is the social infrastructure under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Development and Urbanisation (Ministry).
Sarawak has a 12 Civic Centre, located in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Miri, Limbang, Sarikei, Kapit, Bintulu, Kota Samarahan, Mukah, smell and Kaimana with the overall construction costs amounting to RM81.84 million. Sibu Civic Centre construction starting as early as 1985 and the last of the Civic Centre was built Samarahan the City Civic Centre in 1993.
The design of the Civic Centre represents the local architecture and customs of local people. Functions of the Civic Centre is to house all activities in one building to promote interaction and unity among the people of Sarawak are different races and religions.
Activities undertaken by the Civic Centre, including the cultural, artistic, sporting, recreational, social and scientific-oriented activities. Among the facilities available at the Civic Centre are multi-purpose hall, exhibition hall, a mini museum, library, sports stadium aatu complex, auditorium, gymnasium, dormitories, meeting rooms and VIP rooms.
