Welcome to the 31st ESCRS Winter Meeting, to be held from 17 to 20 March 2027 at InterContinental CityStars in Cairo, Egypt.
Cairo offers an excellent venue for our meeting. Egypt is one of the cradles of civilisation and has one of the longest medical traditions, spanning more than four thousand years. In March 2027, one of the centres of medical knowledge will host the ophthalmic community from around the world to discuss the innovations shaping the future of eye care.
We will organise the Meeting in co-operation with the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society (EOS), in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (EgSCRS) and the Egyptian Society of Ocular Implants and Refractive Surgery (ESOIRS).
Following the success of our latest Winter Meetings in Athens and Helsinki, Cairo 2027 will offer a concentrated, interactive and clinically oriented scientific programme.
One of the main themes of the programme will be myopia, which is one of the major and growing challenges in global eye care. In combination with the programme of the Egyptian and partner societies, the Meeting will cover contemporary topics in anterior segment and ocular surgery, from the cornea and ocular surface to cataract, refractive and intraocular surgery.
Among other activities, participants will enjoy:
high-level scientific symposia with internationally renowned speakers;
clinically oriented Instructional Courses dealing with decision-making in daily practice;
Wet Labs aimed at improving surgical skills;
Theatre Sessions and case discussions;
presentations of Free Papers and research;
direct contact with innovators, industry representatives and colleagues from around the world.
The ESCRS Winter Meeting is intentionally designed to bring people together. The concentrated format of the event offers the best conditions for discussion, training and communication among clinicians, researchers, educators and industry partners. This is an event where new knowledge is explored, emerging technologies are presented and evaluated, experience is openly shared, and new collaborations are initiated.
