Lately, high-temperature shape memory alloys have attracted a lot of interest as the demand for components operating at temperature above 100 oC has grown significantly. There have been substantial advances recently, but challenging issues still limit the widespread use of these unique materials. The successful introduction of next generation high-temperature shape memory components into the market will require materials with low-cost constituents that feature microstructural stability under thermal and cyclic loads.
The conference will provide a forum to present and discuss the latest result in this rapidly evolving field, and aims at bridging the gap from basics to applications. Thus, it will bring together the leading experts both from academia and industry to share recent developments and evolving opportunities. The conference is expected to provide new insights into the mechanisms that control functional degradation, present new approaches to material processing, design and modeling and present advances in applications. There will be ample time for the participants to present their results and exchange their views in a relaxed, informal environment.
