ITP symposium series, inaugurated in Belgium in 1979, is one of the most recognized international meetings addressing the latest issues and innovations in all areas of electro- and liquid phase-separations techniques.
The scientific areas of the symposium cover a wide range of technologies and applications based on electro- and liquid phase separations: capillary and microchip electrophoresis, electrokinetic chromatography, two-dimensional electrophoresis, HPLC, UPLC, Micro- and Nanoscale HPLC, and their hyphenation with MS.
APCE series has become one of the international conferences in Separation Science and Analytical Science as well as related topics since the first symposium held in 1996 in Singapore. This symposium focuses on the fundamental aspects of chromatography, mass spectrometry, electrophoresis, microfluidic chip, biosensor, GC/LC/ CE/chip-MS, and sample pretreatment. The emphasis is paid to the relevant applications in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, protein-drug quality control, food safety, environmental analysis, biotechnology as well as medical analysis.
CECE started in 2004 as a friendly meeting of colleagues from Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, and Brno. The name CECE originally reflected the presentations by Bob Gas, Dusan Kaniansky, and Ernst Kenndler on capillary electrophoresis. The scope of the meeting has expanded since then and the name CECE (pronounce che che) now doesn't have any particular meaning, except, perhaps the "wow" in the Brno dialect. Today, CECE aims at bringing in distinguished scientists to present the newest trends in their research fields. Since the oral presentations are by invitation only, CECE aims at bringing the newest, cutting-edge science to Brno, getting together scientists who don't meet very often and creating an informal atmosphere to promote new ideas and help to establish new partnerships.
Since 2012 a one-day section CECE Junior has been added to the program with oral presentations of young scientists. While the main target audiences are graduate students and young scientists, it is never too late to learn something new and we encourage all our colleagues to come and see the presentations. Both the CECE and CECE Junior share a common poster section open to all participants.
IUPAC was formed in 1919 by chemists from industry and academia, who recognized the need for international standardization in chemistry. The standardization of weights, measures, names, and symbols is essential to the well-being and continued success of the scientific enterprise and to the smooth development and growth of international trade and commerce. This desire for international cooperation among chemists and facilitation of the work of the international, but fragmented, chemistry community were the earliest characteristics of the Union. Today the Union is in a unique position to contribute to the central interdisciplinary chemical sciences. Strengthening international chemistry, striving towards inspiring high standards of excellence and relevance in academic and industrial research, and promoting the service of chemistry to society and to global issues, are the visions that shape IUPAC's activities in the 21st century.
