Founded in 1978, the Chinese Petroleum Society (CPS) is an academic group consists of scientific and technological workers in China's oil, petroleum and offshore oil industries. It is also a member of the Chinese Association of Science and Technology.It has 64,000 registered members and it has set up local societies in 28 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions. There are 21 branches, special committees and working committees under the society's board of directors. CPS has established academic exchange and cooperation relationships with professional petroleum organizations in other countries, including the United States, Russia, Japan, and Canada. It has maintained close contact with the Society of Petroleum Engineers International since the 1980s, and has hosted seven international petroleum engineering conferences and international petroleum engineering exhibitions in China since 1983.The Chinese Petroleum Society holds 40-50 various domestic professional exchange conferences annually and organizes many international academic exchange events. |
