The Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales (SMMater), in partnership with the Materials Research Society (MRS), invites the international materials research community to the 34th International Materials Research Congress (IMRC 2026), taking place August 16-20, 2026, in Cancun, Mexico.
IMRC 2026 offers an international forum for sharing recent developments in materials science and engineering. The event will include a wide range of topical, multidisciplinary symposia that reflect current research trends and address fundamental and practical challenges related to materials research and associated technologies.
The congress maintains a long-standing tradition of scientific excellence, attracting about 1,900 participants from nearly 45 countries, including researchers from academia, industry, government labs, and research organizations. IMRC promotes an inclusive and collaborative environment that encourages scientific discussion, interdisciplinary interaction, and professional growth at all career levels.
Complementing the technical program, IMRC 2026 will feature a commercial exhibition with participation from over 30 national and international companies, showcasing instrumentation, materials, services, and technologies relevant to the materials research community. Additionally, a Graduate Programs Fair (EXPO POSGRADOS) will be conducted, displaying more than 25 graduate programs and providing opportunities for academic engagement and guidance for students and early-career researchers.
IMRC 2026 will be held at the internationally renowned Cancun Center and nearby hotels, offering suitable facilities for scientific, educational, and exhibition activities.
