The International Federation of Societies for Microscopy's (IFSM) aim is to contribute to the advancement of microscopy in all its aspects. It comprises microscopy societies from all around the world.
The most important activity of IFSM is the sponsorship of the most important series of meetings on microscopy: the International Microscopy Congress (the IMC) is held every 4 years. IFSM also supports young scientists to attend meetings of our Members. Activities between the IMCs are managed by the IFSM Executive Board which is led by the President, the Immediate Past President (Vice-President) and the General Secretary. The General Assembly takes place every 4 years at the IMC. At that time, the General Assembly selects the site for the next IMC from proposals submitted by Members of IFSM.
