Pollutec Morocco : the one event for the Kingdom's environment professionals.
After a highly successful second show, Pollutec Morocco has confirmed its position as a must visit event for the Kingdom's environment professionals. This third show will bring together 400 Moroccan eco-industrials and international leaders - suppliers of equipment and service providers in the Water, Waste, Recycling Energy, Risk Prevention and Sustainable Development sectors - and nearly 8,000 trade visitors from industry, eco-activities, building and civil engineering, national and local authorities and services.
WHY EXHIBIT?
The environment protection: a major concern for the Kingdom
Morocco offers numerous advantages in terms of environmental and developmental capital: its geographical location, diverse climate, terrain, and ecosystems plus its rich natural resources (quarries, fishing, timber, agriculture etc.) and considerable human potential.
A healthy and stable economic background
• Sustained growth thanks to structural reforms
• GDP grew by 4% in 2010
• Inflation is low and under control (1.5% in 2010)
• Dynamic institutions encouraging the establishment of companies thanks to a favourable fiscal
policy and major economic reforms
Current and planned investment projects:
The main projects currently underway or scheduled for 2010-2020 and by 2030 horizon
Drinking water and sewerage
• National sewerage programme: estimated total investment of DH 50 billion by 2020 (about $ 6 billion)
• An overall level of connection to the sewerage network of 80% by 2020
• 80% reduction in domestic pollution by 2020
• Improvement of access to sewerage for 200,000 beneficiaries and the building of treatment plants for 330 towns and urban centres.
• Fresh mobilization of water resources through the desalination of sea water and transfer between drainage basins
• Protection and refilling of underground aquifers.
Waste/ recycling
• A loan of $138.8 million from the World Bank (about DH 1 billion) in support of the 2nd project for the development of the municipal solid waste sector in Morocco (1st project approved in 2009 in support of development policies for the sector)
• Controlled rubbishes for 350 cities and urban centres and an overall level of domestic waste collection in towns of 90%
Energy
• DH 30 billion project (about $ 3.5 billion) for the construction of 5 wind farms raising the national electrical production from wind to 2,000 MW by 2020 (as compared to 280 MW today)
• Building sector: 36% of the country's total energy consumption. National energy efficiency programme for buildings totalling nearly $30 million launched by ADEREE.
• Moroccan Project for Solar Energy of DH 70 billion (about $ 9 billion) to increase the national electrical production from solar to 2,000 MW by 2020
The Mediterranean solar plan (UPM--Union for the Mediterranean initiative) aims to encourage the development on the largest scale of renewables in the countries of South Mediterranea and to contribute to the transfer of technology to this region.

• The 2003 air law and its implementing decrees for the reduction of emissions.
• Industrial incentives within the framework of the Environment Charter
Safeguarding the environment and natural sites
- Establishment of "Points de vie" oasis protection and development programme
Sustainable development
- Setting up of the first Carbon Fund in Morocco, the FCCM
