Surabaya is the capital city of East Java, Indonesia's most industrialised province with a regional GDP of US$68 billion, which grew by over 6% last year. With a population of over 38 million the Province represents a regional market bigger than Malaysia and Singapore combined. Trade and manufacturing account for 58% of the region's GDP and these sectors have an annual targeted growth rate of 6.5%.
Held in the new purpose built Grand City Convention & Exhibition Centre, the 2011 event attracted 281 exhibitors from 25 countries and was attended by 7,419 trade and business visitors from throughout the region. In addition to the manufacturing sector the 2011 event was expanded to include Marine & Shipbuilding Surabaya and Electric, Power, Oil & Gas Surabaya, reflecting the priorities in the government's East Indonesia Development Plan.
