Rotor blades are fundamental'parts'of a wind turbine and a huge demand is placed on them. They must withstand extraordinary loads especially as they are further growing in size.
In the last couple of years, the design, manufacture and maintenance of rotor blades has progressed drastically, due to the growing importance of renewable energy sources. New materials have been developed and testing plays an important role to produce reliable blades. In addition to the exciting technical advances cost efficiency aspects always have to be taken into account.
