Founded in 1923, the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections (IUSTI) is the oldest international organization in the field. Its core objective is the achievement of international cooperation in the control of STIs, including HIV. Because IUSTI is international in scope, the various IUSTI regions hold regular regional meetings and IUSTI hosts World Meetings annually. The IUSTI focuses on the research, medical, social, and epidemiological aspects of STIs and HIV/AIDS. IUSTI is on the Roster of the United Nations Economic and Social Council and is an Official Non-Government Organization in Consultative Status with the World Health Organization (WHO). IUSTI is a voluntary body of unlimited duration, without any political, religious or social ties.
Established in 1977, the ISSTDR promotes research on sexually transmitted diseases and facilitates the timely exchange of information among research investigators - addressing the entire range of the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences related to STIs and HIV. ISSTDR organizes biennial, interdisciplinary scientific meetings.
The joint ISSTDR-IUSTI Congress is renowned as a global platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and addressing challenges related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy of sexually transmitted diseases and infections. This Montreal 2025 Congress will bring together a diverse range of researchers, clinicians, healthcare, social and public health workers, and advocates from around the world to exchange ground-breaking insights, innovative approaches, and evidence-based best practices. These two respected organizations are dedicated to advancing research, improving patient care, and promoting sexual health worldwide.
