After organizing the second (Lisbon, 1995) and seventh (Porto, Portugal, 2007) European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference, the IDMEC and Instituto Superior Tecnico are delighted to host the 16th European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference from September 7 to 11, 2025 and welcome the wave and tidal community to the Portuguese island of Madeira for EWTEC'25!
The conference is to take place at the The VidaMar Resort Hotel Congress Center. This venue faces the sea on sunny Madeira's southern coastline. It is a short walk from central Funchal, with its shops, iconic market, shopping center, and museums, and just 30 minutes from Funchal's International Airport. The venue is also at walking distance from various other accommodation options, which delegates can book. Madeira offers excellent travel connections with a range of accommodation to suit all budgets.
Madeira was awarded as Best Island Destination in Europe in 2020, and it counts on multiple attractions and leisure activities, most of them related to nature onshore and offshore.
