IndiaMaritime transport has been recognized as the most fuel efficient, cost effective and environment friendly transport system.'In India, about 7% of the freight moves by the coastal ships and less than 0.50% moves by the inland waterways.'The dependence on the road and rail sector for freight movement has increased the logistics cost in India considerably.'The aim of this conference is to promote inland and coastal navigation in Indian transport sector.'This will require innovative thinking from all sectors of the maritime industry, and particularly those involved in ship design and construction.
