POWERED BY RECOVERING ECONOMIES
The construction industry had been the mainstay of regional economies for long but once the global financial meltdown swept through the region, the sector too bore the brunt of the crisis.
The steel fabrication industry also witnessed a major change in the buying patterns during this time - the waning demand from the construction sector was however offset by increasing orders from the infrastructure industry.
SteelFab has achieved new benchmarks with every edition of the show during its seven year run (October 2004, January 2006, January 2007, January 2008, January 2009, January 2010 and January 2011).
The number of exhibitors has constantly risen from 48 in the first edition to 231 direct participants in 2009 representing over 600 brands from all over the world.
Even with the global recession, SteelFab 2010 retained 190 direct exhibitors who showcased over 500 brands at the show and SteelFab 2011 increased to 206 direct exhibitors from 20 countries, showcasing over 600 brands.
SteelFab 2012 will feature a new focus for material handling in steel fabrication. Manufacturing in the Middle East region has largely been labour intensive; however, developments in the past few years indicate a gradual shift to automation in process, with Material Handling being at the forefront of this change.
The "Material Handling" special focus at SteelFab aims to provide the tools to accelerate this change and will feature a full range of equipment from overhead cranes, conveyor systems, rotators, positioners, column & boom, robots, magnetic lifting, vacuum lifting etc.
As in the previous show, SteelFab 2012 will have a special focus area for CNC machine tools and metal-cutting machinery. With expanding manufacturing and production facilities, demand for machine tools are growing in the region. Sensing this requirement, SteelFab 2012 will continue to have a special focus area for CNC machine tools and metal-cutting machinery.
It will feature lathes, milling, drilling, grinding, EDMs, work centers, tool room machinery, high-precision machine tools, machining centers and affiliated machine tools. CNC cutting systems with plasma, oxy-fuel and Waterjet will also be a major attraction.
CONTINUING FOCUS - pipe & tube machinery
Acting on good response from trade visitors during the previous editions of the shows, SteelFab 2012 will have a special area for machinery and tools used in pipe & tube fabrication.
Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and industrial projects are triggering demand for machinery and tools used in bending and cutting pipes and tubes. Taking this into consideration, SteelFab 2012 will continue with a special area dedicated to these types of machinery.
Machinery and tools for pipe & tube construction, pipe forming,pipe cutting, roll bending, tube forming, tube bending, orbital welding, pipe & tube straightening, clamps and accessories and other pipe & tube solutions will be on display.
Many exhibits were represented in this segment at SteelFab 2011. They included DWT Babcock, Wachs, Evolution, HGG Profiling, Jammes, Magnatech, Miksan, Mueller - Opladen, Orbitalum, PHD Pipe Hanger Devices, Polysoude, Spa Welding, Sulzer Metco, Sumner, Vernon Tools, Watts Specialties, Weld-tech, Wortelboer, Ylm-Ying Lin Machine, Zopf and others.
