Situated in the hinterland of the Eurasian Continent, Xinjiang has a wide land border bounded by eight countries such as Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. As the base of strategic energy in China, and benefits from the distinct ascendancy of resource and frontier trade of Xinjiang, it is estimated that there are about 2190 billion tons of coal mining resources which accounts for one fourth of the total prospective reserves. During the past two years, the coal exploration and theconstruction of coal and electricity in Xinjiang have been accelerated through the promotion of national policies and funding. The government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will also expedite the construction of the 13 key mining areas and the four bases of coal and electricity, coal chemicals and coal coking in Zhundong,Yili, Tuha and Kubai.
Xinjiang International Coal, Mining and Exploration Technology & Equipment Exhibition (ICIE) has been hold for 7 sessions successfully involving a total exhibit space of 15,000 square meters.
