Defence iQ's International Dismounted Soldier returns at a crucial time for the Euro-Atlantic alliance.
The dynamics of complex modern conflict are changing. A new kind of asymmetric warfare can be observed across modern conflicts, and an ever more transparent battlefield where enemy forces can potentially track and detect all communication and movement on the battlefield opens up a whole new host of challenges for today's dismounted soldier. As a result, key questions have arisen: how are nations increasing their asymmetric warfare capabilities and exploiting enemy weaknesses? How is the Euro-Atlantic alliance training and preparing today's dismounted soldier for a transparent battlefield? Today's dismounted soldiers are required to operate in a variety of different environments and terrains (including littoral, cold weather, urban, desert and jungle) for which they need to be trained and equipped with the right technology on their physical person and externally to aid in their missions.'With more modern conflicts taking place in urban environments, requiring close and more frequent contact with civilians, how are nations equipping their forces the complexities of such operations in this era of urban conflict? This event will provide the platform the thorough interrogation of these pressing questions and concerns.
FUTURE SOLDIER MODERNISATION
With this changing face of conflict, technological advancement must match the pace of change to ensure dismounted soldiers are appropriately equipped for modern and future battlefields. Nations are actively engaging with industry towards the goals of future modernisation, focusing on solutions and technologies aiding in increasing soldier lethality, enhancing dismounted situational awareness, enabling tactical communications in complex environments, shaping the global security environment, maintaining sovereignty and deterring and defending the Euro-Atlantic.
Recognising this pace of change, this year's event adopts a new format, with strategic morning focusing on the themes of interoperability, the changing character of conflict, building combat-ready forces and the current Euro-Atlantic security environment. This will be followed by sessions on training, simulation and wargaming for the modern & future battlefields. The second day takes a more tactical focus with two dedicated streams on: a) increasing soldier lethality, b) innovating soldier systems and enhancing performance.
Join us in London for tactical and strategic level briefings, networking sessions, and discussions!
