Queensland's largest and most loved annual event is almost here. More than 400,000 people will come together at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) in Brisbane to see the best of Queensland with more than 10,000 animals, 21,000 competition entries, a smorgasbord of award-winning food and wine, plus hours of free family entertainment.
During the 10 days of Ekka, thousands of animals are housed just 1.5 kilometres from the CBD-making this event truly unique in the Australian landscape and epitomising city meets country. Animals have always been, and remain, a main attraction at the Ekka with the now famous Animal Nursery stemming back to 1964.
