The International OSA Network of Students Conference on Optics, Atoms and Laser Applications (IONS KOALA) is a student conference that has run annually since 2008. With the support of many fantastic organisations, KOALA brings together postgraduate students around the world studying optics, atoms and laser science.
KOALA encompasses a broad variety of topics within the fields of optics, atoms, and laser applications. In previous years, students have presented research about atomic, molecular and optical physics; quantum optics; spectroscopy; micro and nanofabrication; biomedical imaging; biophotonics; metrology; astronomy and astrophotonics; nonlinear optics; and laser physics, plus much more.
This year, KOALA will be co-hosted by the OSA student chapters at Macquarie University and the University of Sydney, based at Macquarie University, North Ryde campus.
