With an increase in regions facing record wildfires and climate change not slowing down, the need for preventing and mitigating wildfires has never been more urgent. The devastating impact of recent wildfires has major impacts on the economy, exacerbates housing shortages, and increases the likelihood of floods and landslides, to only name a few of issues wildfires are creating.
CAL FIRE reported in early August that the total acres burned this year is 29 times more than last year, with overall wildfire activity 2,816% higher. California isn't the only area facing increased wildfires. Canada is having its second worst wildfire season since 1995 with 5.3 million hectares burned so far. In western Canada alone, this has resulted in over $880 million in damages. In Oregon, wildfires have burned a 1.4 million acres. Wildfires are burning at least twice as much tree cover today as they did two decades ago.
The sixth iteration of the IDGA Wildfire Technology Management Summit will bring together industry leaders, wildfire agencies, academia, and representatives from utilities and power companies to collaboratively address and advance solutions for the prediction, prevention, detection, suppression, and mitigation of destructive wildfires.
Join us for two days of learning, networking, and collaboration in Long Beach, CA, and join the conversation on the future of wildfire management and technology development. Key organizations represented will include the US Forest Service, the Department of Interior, CAL FIRE, the Nevada Department of Forestry, Orange County Fire Authority, the Idaho Department of Lands, and numerous other state and international leaders.
