The 13th annual World Ocean Summit will build on momentum from the 2025 summits in Tokyo and Cascais, and the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, fostering new partnerships, action-plans and collaborations to accelerate ocean solutions. Discussions will focus on accelerating investment in blue initiatives, restoring marine and coastal ecosystems, strengthening indigenous knowledge and rights in ocean governance, and tackling challenges such as melting sea ice, ocean pollution, and sustainable fisheries management.
The programme will address the role of ocean technology, big data, and digital innovation as essential tools - alongside science, policy, and traditional knowledge. Sessions will explore the implementation of marine protected areas, evidence-based policymaking, and the integration of indigenous perspectives across the global ocean agenda. Cross-sector partnerships will be key, with speakers from industries such as shipping, aquaculture, fishing, offshore energy and tourism contributing insights on how collaboration can lead to more inclusive and effective ocean stewardship.
