For European OEMs, connected vehicles is now the ultimate goal and a high-demand area. However, the industry is now facing a new paradigm of connectivity; vehicle manufacturers have invested millions of dollars in technology and features; whether these costs are reflecting in tangible business benefits is unknown and a major struggle Customers are demanding more and more features and support, but automotive companies are struggling to make a tangible profit.
Right here right now, the absolute crux of connected vehicle is value-creation and monetisation possibilities and next-generation connected services; both baseline features and paid-for features-on-demand. How are vehicle manufacturers viewing connected services from service and value creation perspective? What is the European OEM's focus with respect to connected services and how have business models been created to monetise connected services and connected car data? These are just some of the questions that are top of the mind.
Also, in the last twelve months, the industry has advanced to V2X, AI and Generative AI has had an impact like never before, and future EV platforms, software-defined vehicles and ADAS technologies are presenting brand new challenges. The EU Data Act is expected to be ratified later this year; until then, vehicle manufacturers are holding back on their UBI offerings, and finding new data to effectively manage and use connected vehicle data in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
While the industry is working hard towards these high-growth connectivity goals and we are beginning to see early results, this is a long journey with many challenges and a steep learning curve for that the industry will need to go through.
Automotive IQ invites you to the Connected Vehicles Europe 2024 as we delve into the latest business models, use cases from connectivity experts, address the biggest connected data challenges, and take a look at next-generation connected services, Generative AI technologies, 5G/6G capabilities that are enabling ROI and value-creation opportunities.
