Welcome to the 17th International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Control (AVEC '26), to be held at the Tsukuba International Congress Center in Tsukuba City, Japan, from September 7 to 11, 2026. As noted in the "History" section of this webpage, the first AVEC symposium was successfully held in Yokohama, Japan, in 1992. Since then, AVEC symposia have been convened every two years in various locations throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, and have become widely recognized as one of the most important international conferences on vehicle dynamics and control.
A defining characteristic of AVEC is its balanced participation from both industry and academia, fostering valuable exchanges between engineers involved in vehicle development and researchers specializing in dynamics and control from around the globe. In this respect, AVEC serves not only as an academic symposium but also as a truly international forum where participants from diverse nations, companies, and universities can openly share new findings, insights, and experiences.
In keeping with this tradition, AVEC '26 will welcome both practical and theoretical contributions across a broad spectrum of fields related to vehicle dynamics and control. The symposium will commence with a welcome party on the evening of the first day. Each morning over the following three days will feature a keynote lecture delivered by a distinguished engineer or researcher from either industry or academia. Subsequent technical sessions, held in multiple parallel rooms, will present the latest research and developments across the topics outlined in the "Symposium Topics" section of this webpage. Throughout the symposium, an exhibition will showcase vehicles and components that embody both cutting-edge innovations and historically significant technologies developed by leading Japanese automakers and component manufacturers.
On the final day, participants will have the opportunity to tour the research facilities and proving grounds of the Japan Automobile Research Institute, one of the nation's foremost centers for automotive research. A banquet will be held at Hotel Nikko Tsukuba on the evening of the third day.
