The 46th Scientific Assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) will be held1 - 9 August 2026 at the Fortezza da Basso in the historic and inspiring city of Florence, Italy. It's a great pleasure and honor for COSPAR to organize this Scientific Assembly hosted by INAF with the support of the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Italian National Committee for COSPAR, the Italian Astrophysics and Space Science Institutes, the Italian Space Science Society, uniting the global community of space researchers in a shared pursuit of knowledge and progress.
For over sixty years, COSPAR has been a cornerstone of international collaboration in space science, committed to fostering peaceful cooperation and advancing our understanding of the cosmos and our Planet. The biennial Scientific Assemblies are a reflection of this enduring mission-bringing together scientists, engineers, industry, educators, and thought leaders from around the world.
The 2026 COSPAR Scientific Assembly carries special significance with its theme: "Sustainable Space Research for the Planet." This theme underscores our collective responsibility to pursue scientific advancement with a deep awareness of our environmental impact, both on Earth and beyond.
