2027 Theme: European Spectrum Resilience and EW Dominance - Scaling Up for Future Operations
With the overall theme "European Spectrum Resilience and EW Dominance - Scaling Up for Future Operations" the symposium will examine how Europe can turn current electromagnetic operations (EMO) into a sovereign, scalable and decisive operational advantage while ensuring effective command and control of the electromagnetic spectrum. Central to this is the requirement for data sovereignty to enable large-scale, multi-domain and multilateral operations against a proven, capable and adaptive adversary. The symposium will also explore how assured positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) can be delivered from seabed to space and from base to target, including the strategic implications of commercial services and proliferated small low-Earth-orbit constellations.
AOC Europe 2027 will address how exquisite capabilities can be balanced using affordable and scalable attritable systems, how EW must evolve to counter UxVs, and how meta materials could support signature control and passive low-probability-of-intercept solutions. Across these challenges, standardisation must be considered not only as a potential obstacle to innovation but also as a fast track to interoperability and rapid integration. Spectrum control and dominance will depend on the coordinated employment of integrated high- and low-altitude platforms, sovereign data, resilient architectures and agile command-and-control processes capable of converting technological advantage into operational effects.
