The International Union of Railways (UIC) is delighted to invite you to the 5th Global Future Railway Mobile Communication System (FRMCS) Conference, taking place on 24-25 November 2026 at the UIC Headquarters in Paris.
2026 will be a pivotal year for FRMCS, marked by major railway sector milestones:
Delivery of the UIC FRMCS V3p Specifications (due November 2026)
The start of testing of the FRMCS V2.2 specification set within FP2?MORANE?2, a Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-RAIL) co-funded project coordinated by UIC, bringing together 12 European railway undertakings, 13 product manufacturers, the European Rail Supply Industry Association (UNIFE), and two Mobile Network Operators
Expansion of FRMCS initiatives beyond Europe, reflecting next-generation railway communications' global momentum
FRMCS is the next major step in railway telecoms, and will be a central tenet of railway digitalisation. The new communications system will both support enhanced operational safety, and improve punctuality and capacity.
By enabling the transition towards intelligent trains, FRMCS will also contribute to improved traffic management, network optimisation, and overall rail performance.
