The 11th edition of the IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics - BioRob 2026 - will be held in Edmonton, Canada from August 1-4, 2026. It represents a collaborative endeavor between two IEEE Societies: Robotics and Automation (RAS) and Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMBS).
BioRob addresses both the fundamental and applied challenges at the intersection of robotics, mechatronics, medicine, and biology, embracing both directions of the biology-engineering relationship. On one hand, biorobotics studies biological systems through a biomechatronic lens to uncover the scientific and engineering principles underlying their exceptional performance, adaptability, and efficiency. This biological insight informs the design of high-performance, bio-inspired machines and robotic systems. On the other hand, BioRob also emphasizes how advances in robotics, control, sensing, actuation, and intelligent systems can be systematically applied to solve biomedical and clinical problems. Together, these complementary perspectives enable the development of innovative nano-, micro-, and macro-scale devices that can interact with, assist, augment, or replace human functions, supporting applications ranging from disease prevention and diagnostics to surgical intervention, prosthetics, rehabilitation, and personal assistance.
