The Numerical Combustion series looks back on a history of more than thirty years with the first edition being held in 1985 in Sophia Antipolis, France. The goal was to create a highly focused forum, which concentrates on the up and coming field of numerical combustion. The center of this conference is academic research while also providing a room for the translation of academic findings into practically relevant developments. Until now, nineteen conferences have been held over the past 39 years, alternating between Europe and North America, and recently Asia.
