As the maritime industry accelerates its drive towards a sustainable future, the need for innovative alternative power and propulsion technologies is becoming increasingly urgent. Among these, wind-assisted propulsion is rapidly emerging as a practical, scalable solution. Drawing on one of the oldest principles in shipping, modern wind technologies are now taking centre stage in efforts to reduce emissions.
Since its inaugural edition in 2019, the Wind Propulsion Conference has established itself as a leading platform for industry stakeholders'-'from shipowners and classification societies to technology developers, researchers, and policy-makers'-'to connect and collaborate. The sector is gaining momentum, with 54 large vessels equipped with wind propulsion systems by the second half of 2024, another seven vessels built wind-ready, and over 80 new wind-powered ships expected by 2025/26. The global fleet is on track to surpass 100 installations by the end of 2025.
The Wind Propulsion 2026 Conference will provide critical updates on technology, design, policy, and performance. Attendees will gain valuable insights, engage with leaders across the field, and help shape the future of sustainable shipping.
